- On April 2021, Dan Goor confirmed that Chelsea Peretti will be returning as Gina Linetti in the eighth season.
- Later, on June 2021, Chelsea confirmed that she will return as Gina in at least one of the episodes.
- On April 21, 2020, Dan Goor announced the writers room has started the work of Season 8.[1] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the writers started virtually instead of in person.
- On June 16, NBC announced the season would air in the fall instead of mid-winter, opening up the possibility of a Halloween Heist held on Halloween. [2]
