  • On April 21, 2020, Dan Goor announced the writers room has started the work of Season 8.[3] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the writers started virtually instead of in person.
  • On June 16, NBC announced the season would air in the fall instead of mid-winter, opening up the possibility of a Halloween Heist held on Halloween. [4]
  • On June 23, Terry Crews revealed that Dan Goor and the show crew decided to scrap the first four new episode script and start fresh after George Floyd's death.[5]
