Episode Synopsis

Gina Linetti returns as a popular internet celebrity since leaving the Nine-Nine. In need of police protection she asks Terry and Jake to do security during her first in-person G-Hive event. The always independent Rosa ends up with her hands bandaged and gets stuck in a supply much to Amy's chagrin. Captain Holt thinks Nikolaj is a genius and turns into a smothering helicopter parent to Charles.

Gina Hits 1 Million Subscribers Cold Open


Jake is excited to tell Terry that he just got off the phone with Gina Linetti but Terry’s mad at her for standing up Jake over the past few months. She invited Jake and Terry to check out her new apartment. When they arrive an assistant greets them and lets them know Gina’s running late because of a photo shoot. She opens the door to reveal Gina dressed as Moses, taking part in a professional photo shoot with people everywhere.

Holt is working on a statistical analysis on white boards in the briefing room when Charles Boyle and his son Nikolaj come by. As Holt talks to Charles Nikolaj draws something on Holt’s white board. Holt thinks it’s the absolute value of psi and that Nikolaj is a genius.

Gina asks Jake and Terry if they’ll be security at her first speaking engagement because she’s been receiving death threats. She takes a call from her agent while in the midst of conversation with Jake and Terry and scoots them out with the promise of getting drinks at Shaw’s later.

Rosa touched poison oak and has to keep her hands covered to prevent scratching. Amy offers to help, bragging that she was called finger queen at typing camp. When Rosa refuses her help, lectures her how she’s about to learn she can’t be independent all the time.

While waiting for Gina at Shaw’s, Terry tells Jake about his friend Bryant Ungerbert who was drafted into the Canadian football league and chose his career over their friendship. As Jake denies Gina being an Ungerbert her assistant shows up to tell them Gina’s not coming.

Jake and Terry meet up at the event venue and Jake admits that Gina’s choosing work over friendship and plans to say something to her. They find her backstage and update her on the death threats being traced to another internet celebrity, Marvin Lennox. Jake tells her he’s bummed out that she blew them off for work and Gina tells him that she had food poisoning and blames her assistant for not telling them.

Holt lectures Charles on how he’s a terrible father to his genius child. He proceeds to ruminate about how his father made him play sports instead of letting him make charts and graphs like he wanted. He tells Charles to drop Nikolaj’s cartooning class so he can tutor him.

Rosa tries to turn on her computer with her bandaged hands and knocks over a soda bottle that explodes. She goes to the supply closet for things to clean up the mess and the door closes behind her.

Gina’s event begins with an over dramatic entrance and very enthusiastic fans. She gives them 3 more Ginamandments and takes compliments from the crowd before leading them in a meditation. Terry spots Marvin Lennox. Jake gets Gina and pulls her off stage after Terry loses sight of him. She’s initially annoyed when a large orb falls directly onto the spot where she would’ve been standing.

Jake, Terry and Gina are back at her apartment and they all reflect on how cool it was. Jake grabs champagne from the fridge and Gina takes a call from her agent on speaker. He tells her the water people she had drinks with the night before really liked her. Jake and Terry can’t help but overhear and Jake leaves her apartment abruptly.

Holt assesses Nikolaj and recommends Charles send him to a boarding school in Switzerland. Charles doesn’t want to sp Holt encourages him to ask Nikolaj. When they go to talk to him he’s drawing a superhero whose sign is the absolute value of psi. Holt realizes Nikolaj didn’t solve the problem, he was just doodling.

Rosa is in the closet trying to open the door when Amy stops by and asks if she needs help. Rosa blames the noises on the pipes and tells Amy she doesn’t need help.

Gina follows Jake out to the front of her apartment building where he refuses to talk to her. Following behind Gina shouts for him and he says he only talks to his friends. Gina reveals that she was stabbed by a guy who was now running down the street behind her. Jake calls an ambulance and they say not to remove the knife. As they wait, Gina insists Jake talk to her about why he’s upset. He tells her she’s been a crappy friend while she has a knife in her back and she tells him she’s sorry for lying but not for blowing him off for work. They both admit they miss each other and agree to see each other 5% more.

Holt tells Boyle that Nikolaj might not be a genius but he’s talented and apologizes for implying that he’s not a good father.

Terry visits Gina in the hospital who is with Jake. The guy who stabbed Gina got away when he jumped up, grabbed a flag pole and spun around it like Spiderman and jumped on a roof. Jake puts it together that the stabber knew parkour, which a woman at Gina’s event said her husband loved more than her.

Rosa is still stuck in the closet and decides to call Amy for help. Amy says no and explains that she’d been watching her on the security cameras for the past 4 hours and found her perseverance inspiring. She tells Rosa she can do it and when Rosa goes to open the door with her chin it works. The two celebrate in the hallway until Rosa tells Amy she has to go to the bathroom.

Jake and Gina are at Shaw’s Bar waiting for Terry. When he shows up they reveal that Bryant Ungerbert is there. Terry’s thrilled and gives him a big hug.
