Throughout the Series[]

Season Five[]

In The Puzzle Master, Captain Holt and her meet in a gathering of all the candidates running for NYPD's Police Commissioner. It turned out that she was initially selected due to her being female only. Due to Holt publicly disclosing this fact, there's a reorganization of the hiring committee. Also, this makes Holt and her as frenemies.

In White Whale, she tells Holt that John Kelly has the most votes in being recommended for the job of Commissioner and is most likely to be chosen. Both she and Holt sees that they are splitting the vote so each of them request the other drops out of the race. Near the end, they admit that they feel bad and withdraw their respective names from contention; Crawford via email and Holt via a letter. Due the email being instantly received, Crawford could not undo the action while Holt was able to with the help of Olivia, Charles Boyle and Gina Linetti, with Olivia finding Holt's withdrawal letter herself, allowing Holt to destroy it.
