Jason Mantzoukas is a prolific American character actor and comedian. He portrayed Adrian Pimento throughout the Brooklyn Nine-Nine television series.

Prior to Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Jason Mantzoukas had a recurring role on Michael Schur and Dan Goor's previous show Parks and Recreation as Dennis Feinstein.
Getting to Brooklyn Nine-Nine
The character of Adrian Pimento was created for Jason Mantzoukas. He was a fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and impressed Dan Goor with his in-depth knowledge of the show while chatting at an event. The two crossed paths again when Jason was the moderator of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season One Emmy's panel at the Upright Citizens Brigade and in the first 38 seconds he had ripped his shirt off.
They pitched the character of Adrian Pimento to Mantzoukas as someone who is undercover for so long they’ve lost their moral compass. Not sure whether they are or aren’t a good guy or a bad guy. Mentally unsettled to a degree that makes him deeply chaotic and emotionally stunted.
Jason's take on the character was that it felt like he wandered in from a dramatic one hour. He’s a comedy character and he definitely feels like he’s from a show with grittier harsher realities.

In 2023 he was a guest star in Twisted Metal, alongside Stephanie Beatriz after she recommended him for the role. He also portrayed Mr D./Dionysus in the Disney+ TV show Percy Jackson & The Olympians.
