Jake Peralta and Gina Linetti are former colleagues and friends who have been friends since childhood. Jake is the reason that Gina got the job at the 99th Precinct. They are shown to be close and help each other out when the other is in need, such as when Jake needs Gina to help him keep his Nana's flat.


Season One[]

The Apartment[]

  • Gina helps Jake when his Grandmother's flat risks being taken away from him
  • Gina tells Jake not to go to a loan shark
  • Jake insults Gina when she offers to help him out due to his annoyance that she has become more responsible than him
  • Jake apologises to Gina and plans to let Gina buy Nana's flat and he'd rent Gina's starter flat which would lead to her gaining a profit.

  • Jake goes to visit Gina at her apartment to collect some old case files that he left there

  • Gina and Jake visit Kevin as Gina is friends with him

  • Jake asks Gina for help picking up a last minute gift for Charles and she begrudgingly agrees
  • Jake has to rescue Gina when she is kidnapped by the criminals

Season Six[]

- Jake and Gina attend their 20th High School Reunion.

- It is revealed that Gina snitched on Brandon Bliss in high school to protect Jake from stealing a van and getting drunk in Bliss' parents' cabin with Bliss and his friends. Jake was wrongly accused of snitching on Bliss, earning him the nickname "The Tattler".

- Jake suggests that Gina leaves the Nine-Nine, as he felt her talents were being wasted there.

Four Movements[]

Jake and Gina sneak into a high-society club in an attempt to invite Mario Lopez to Gina's going-away party.

Return of the King

- Gina invites Jake and Terry to her new place, Gina also invites them to Shaw's Bar for drinks, but blows them off. - Jake is concerned when she is stabbed, staying by her side on the streets and hospital.



  • Jake and Gina have been friends since childhood, just like Andy Samberg and Chelsea Peretti, the actors who play them.


Gina: Technically speaking, you're bankrupt, kiddo.
Jake: That sounds bad...
Gina: It is bad. I only said "kiddo" to soften the blow, kiddo.
