In the Season Three episode, Adrian Pimento, Gina Linetti hires the actors David and Jenny to play Raymond Holt in a video she was directing. After Gina tells Holt that David really connected with his character he shares that his trick is that he invents a backstory for his character. The one he invented for Holt is that he's addicted to pills and no one knows.
