Chelsea Vanessa Peretti is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress most known for portraying Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Both Chelsea and her character, Gina, left Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Season Six episode 4, Four Movements.
She later return as Gina in the 15th episode of Season Six, Return of the King.[1] And once again in the series finale The Last Day Pt 1 and Pt 2.
Career[]
Chelsea graduated from Barnard College in New York, in 2000.
In 2001, Chelsea and her brother co-created a satire website BlackPeopleLoveUs.com. A picture of Chelsea can be seen at the bottom of the homepage.
Chelsea helped form a comedy troupe in New York called Variety SHAC in 2004. Together with Andrea Rosen, Heather Lawless and Shonali Bhowmik, she created monthly short comedy films. [2]
She has written for many publications including The Village Voice, Details, Playgirl and The Huffington Post.
In 2008, Chelsea became a commentator on truTV's The World's Dumbest. From there she was cast in many small roles on shows such as Louie and The Sarah Silverman Program.
She is the voice of Lori Williams-Jones in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV.
In 2011, Chelsea began writing for the television show Parks and Recreation. The same year she was also cast as the voice of multiple characters on the Adult Swim show China, IL, and released a stand-up special for Comedy Central Presents.
A year later, Chelsea launched a call-in podcast titled Call Chelsea Peretti.
Chelsea was cast as Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2013. Also in 2013, she began writing and appearing as multiple characters in the Comedy Central sketch show, The Kroll Show.
Netflix released her stand-up special Chelsea Peretti: One of the Greats in 2014.
Personal Life[]
Chelsea was born and raised in Oakland, California. She is of Jewish and Italian descent. Her brother, Jonah Peretti, founded Buzzfeed and co-founded The Huffington Post.
She currently lives in Los Angeles with her dog, and is married to actor/comedian Jordan Peele.[3] They have a son named Beaumont Gino Peele (born July 1, 2017).[4]

- Peretti wrote 2 episodes of Parks and Recreation, where she also worked with Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creators Michael Schur and Dan Goor. She participated as a story editor for many episodes of the show. [5]
- She originally auditioned for the part of Rosa (who was going to be called Megan [6] at the time). The creators decided to go in a different direction for that character, but created a new character specifically for Peretti. [7]
- Attended the same elementary school as Andy Samberg, much like their characters on the show.[8][9]
- She admits to using her own cell phone on set anytime Gina is seen on her phone.[10]
- She is left-handed. [11]
